Gastón Haag is a director, actor, and screenwriter based in Spain, with a cinematic vision that oscillates between comedy, the visceral, the absurd, and the profoundly human. His work is characterized by a very distinctive identity, where dark humor, social satire, and compelling characters intertwine with a unique and provocative aesthetic.
He is the co-director and creator of the Disney+ series „There’s Something in the Woods,“ a comedy with touches of horror that explores the fantastic through the everyday, and which solidified his reputation as a creator of narrative universes with a unique voice. The series premiered at the Sitges International Film Festival, confirming his connection to the genre and the prestigious fantasy circuit.
In the realm of short films, he has amassed over 200 international awards. His works have been selected and awarded at key festivals such as Sitges, Isla Calavera, Tarazona, and the Los Angeles Screamfest, among others. Each of his works demonstrates a bold exploration of language, with strong staging choices and a unique sense of rhythm. Pieces like NADA DE NADA (with Raúl Cimas and Javier Botet), SUPERJODIDOS, and TRAGEDIUM. He won the PRDU Directing Award in 2019, the most prestigious award in the Latin American film industry.
