IURIMA – A Tale of Three Fishermen
Drei ausgehungerte Fischer kämpfen auf einer abgelegenen Insel ums Überleben. Sie leben in einer rauen Welt, die an das 19. Jahrhundert erinnert und in der sich offenbar eine Katastrophe ereignet hat.
Es ist keine Nahrung mehr übrig und der Keller ist leer. Verzweifelt versuchen sie zu fischen, obwohl sämtliche Fische aus dem Meer verschwunden sind. Schließlich taucht etwas aus den Tiefen des Meeres auf, doch nichts womit sie gerechnet hatten.
PV Lehtinen
PV Lehtinen was born in Helsinki, Finland. He is acclaimed short film director, writer and producer. His international breakthrough was short film The Diver (2000), which made history at the Tampere International Short Film Festival by winning the Grand Prix and four other prizes. One way or another, many of his films involve the element of water, which he feels is an extremely interesting visual element. Lehtinen is an avid snorkelist and tea enthusiast. Currently he is writing his first feature.

Director Statement
The sea is a great mystery and a treasure trove of stories. I’ve read numerous stories of sailors and fishermen related to the sea, the most captivating ones involve mythologies and beliefs. When I started to write the script about the encounter with „a human fish“, I wanted to bring into my Scandinavian story elements from the mythologies, where the Kalevala poetry meets the sirens of the Odyssey and Ningyo of the Japanese folklore. After all, I found that these worlds have a lot in common.
