Dan Silov
Dan Silov (Daniils Silovs) is an up-and-coming writer and film director from Latvia. In 2000’s Dan spent about ten years living in the US and then the UK. There he enrolled into Manchester Film School, but didn’t finish as he decided to return to Latvia following his heart that was eventually broken. As a way to cope with the break-up he made his first short film, an ambitious sci-fi love story „Disposable Darling“ about a man who purchases a replicant of a woman that broke his heart who he can’t forget or forgive.
That film earned him a nomination for the prestigious Latvian National Film Award. Later he enrolled into the National Film School of Latvia directing more films as part of his studies for a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Arts and earning him two more National Film Award nominations for his shorts „Catastrophe“ and „The Women of Blaumanis“.
