Carmelita Maldonado
Carmelita Maldonado is a storyteller, writer, actor, and director from Boyle Heights. A proud single mother of a beautiful son. She completed a 2-year theatre program at E.L.A.C, and has been performing in plays for over 20 years. She has been an actor, but what she enjoys most is telling her stories and bring them to life on stage. Most recently she leaped from stage writing/directing to screenwriting/directing in her debut short film La Wija, which she staged last year as a play at Teatro Frida Kahlo Theater, right before the pandemic hit. Now a year later she has made a dream of making La Wija short film a reality with the help of generous family, friends, and community. Up next La Wija full length feature film.
