Your Benefits
Submission and registration for the Fright Nights Horror Film Festival is possible from March 15 to June 15, 2024. We would of course be delighted if you submit your production as early as possible. Then our jury vampires will have fresh meat quickly and we can plan the entire horror film festival early. Depending on how many submissions we receive, we have to make a selection and create our festival program.

The submission modalities for the Call for Entries in detail
As every year, the 20th Fright Nights Film Festival will take place in October at the Hollywood Megaplex PlusCity (Pasching, Upper Austria). From October 16 to 19, 2024, we will once again open the gates of horror for you.
During our Call for Entries, which takes place from March 15 to June 15, you can submit your short or feature-length film for the competition or in the “out of competition” category. By completing and submitting our form, you accept the conditions of participation.
Submission fee and deadline:
If you would like to participate in the Call for Entries, there is a small fee. Films in the “out of competition” category can be submitted free of charge. There is a reduced submission fee for our Young Talents under the age of 26.
Please note: The submission of your scary production is only considered complete when the submission fee has been credited to our account. We now also offer payment via PayPal. There is an additional flat fee of 2 euros.
For submissions until June 15, 2024:
– Short films (up to 30 minutes): € 20,-
– Long films (from 60 minutes): € 30,-
– Young Talents: € 6,66,- (up to 26 years)

Format requirements for the screening version:
To ensure that the story doesn’t turn into horror, however, there are some requirements for the movie format. The largest screen at the Hollywood Megaplex PlusCity covers 340 square meters. If the resolution of your film does not meet the requirements, we will unfortunately have to remove the film from the program or the nomination.
We can therefore only accept productions that comply with this format:
– DCP
If you do not have the appropriate software to convert your films, you can use the free DCP converter. You can find detailed instructions on YouTube or in the DCP-o-matic manual.
Awards
Our Horror Awards – The Silver Hand
Our expert horror jury awards a special prize every year: The Silver Hand. It is awarded in the following categories:
– Best Film
– Best Short Film
– Best Actor
– Best actress
– Trash Award
– Best Mutilation Scene
Further services of the Fright Nights Film Festival
If you have been nominated by our jury, you can expect some additional services. These are already included in the submission fee and must be agreed with the organizers. We reserve the right to withdraw additional services at short notice depending on the situation.
Q & A Panel
Once your film has flickered across our big screen, you can take questions from the audience with selected team members. This applies to you in any case if you have submitted a competition entry.
Promotional material
If you have flyers or posters about your film or other projects, you can bring them with you and display them in the places we have designated.
Sales booth
Would you like to sell merchandise or DVDs? No problem. You are welcome to do so as part of the Pasching Horror Film Festival.
However, these additional services can only be used by prior arrangement.
Tickets
If your film is presented at the Fright Nights Festival, you will receive three free tickets for the screening.

Fill out the submission form completely by June 15 at the latest or send us your submission via FilmFreeway.
Point 2 is not needed for submissions via FilmFreeway.

Your files
Send us 3 film stills, a digital poster, synopsis, information about previous screenings, photo and biography of the director, photos of the cast, a trailer and anything else you would like to send us to office@frightnights.eu or send us a download link.

Screener as DCP
Prepare your screener as a DCP file* before the Official Selection 2024 is announced so that there are no complications afterwards.

Official Selection
Wait to be notified whether you have made it into the Official Selection 2024. We will get back to you by July 15 at the latest.

Send us your screener
If you have made it into the Official Selection 2024, send us your screener in DCP format & as an MP4 file as a download or send your screener on a USB stick or hard drive to the following address by August 15, 2024:
