Roberto Montalbo
Roberto Montalbo was born in Madrid in 1981, beginning his career at the beginning of the new century.
Throughout these years he has combined his work on a multitude of series as an assistant director, with the production and direction of various short films, web advertisements and video clips.
Since 2006 he has participated in series such as “Yo soy Bea” (2006), Águila Roja (2009) and Bandolera (2010) among others. Of his latest projects as first assistant director, it is worth highlighting “El Embaradero” (2019) for Movistar+, “Toy Boy” (2020) for Netflix, “Los hombres de Paco” (2021) and Los Protegidos ADN” (2022) for Atresplayer. , “El Cid” (2020) and „Memento Mori“ (2023) for Amazon Prime and the film 366 (2024).
In 2015 he produced the short film “Parque” directed by Mateo Garlo, which got more than one hundred selections and a dozen awards.
The following year he directed the short film “Una cita de mierda” for the well-known online festival JamesonNotodofilmfest, for which it was a finalist in its 14th edition. Later he began a brief tour of various festivals, obtaining 14 selections in that time.
At the end of that same year he began pre-production on his next short film “Niña de trapo”. Written, produced and directed by himself, it was a step forward in terms of quality from the previous short. More budget and days of filming for a more ambitious short, with a multitude of locations and complex situations.
He is currently immersed in the development of the feature film “Fin de Tramo” (Rear Road), while he combines his work as first assistant director in the serie “Memento Mori Seasons 2/3” for Amazon Prime.
